I'm Tian Qin, a designer from China. After completing my undergraduate education in Design Computing at the University of Sydney, I pursued a Master's degree in Service Design at RCA. Guided by the human-centred design principle, I adopt service design thinking to critically reflect on and address macro and micro leverage points of wicked problems, with a particular focus on themes like social innovation, healthcare, and sustainability. My expertise lies in co-design facilitation, strategic analysis, value proposition development, and UI/UX design.
In AcrossRCA, I collaborated with interdisciplinary teams of designers and artists to explore the impacts of social media echo chambers on body image anxieties and critically examine how the notion of body positivity has devolved into performative activism. Throughout the project, I appreciated the organic collision between rationality, creativity, and intuition. Particularly, I found joy in the research and reflective analysis process, emphasizing evidence-driven reasoning for design decisions and prioritizing user feedback and design impact in creative expression.
