Srinija is an experience designer and researcher from India. Her work primarily explores the themes of social design, inclusive design, and experience design.
Her undergraduate work focused on the theme "play" in education, exploring the concepts of maker-centric learning, curriculum and policy design, adult education, and information experience design. Through various projects exploring alternative, unconventional ways to teach and learn, she was able to establish her skillset in creating human-centred design. Some of her works include "maker-centric learning through local Indian handicrafts" and "The aftermath of cooking: a recipe book that teaches you linear equations".
Her work at RCA explores "Grassroots Innovation in India" through the lens of speculative world-building. Her master's degree project focuses on looking at the transformative power of grassroots innovation in shaping resilient Indian communities. Using speculation, storytelling, and workshops as mediums, the project explores multiple ways to showcase the concepts of social empowerment, community engagement, and collective action. The goal of her project is to create experiences that inspire dialogue about the role of community-driven innovation.
Before joining RCA, Srinija has worked as a UX designer, working primarily on projects related to generative AI tools and consumer sector. She has also taken up multiple leadership roles - Program Representative at RCA (2023-24); Chapter Vice-Chair and Memberships Chair (dual role) at the Srishti ACM SIGCHI Student Chapter (2020-22).
