Seongeun Lee, I’m textile artist based in Korea and London. Humans are beings who live their lives continuously asking the question, ‘What kind of being am I?’. According to existentialist philosopher Heidegger, the goal is to reveal what it means for humans to exist. Fundamental questions like these make us think about 'how' humans exist, which leads to the exploration of the meaning of 'existence’. Humans are beings with independent subjectivity and are the basic units that live, think, and act on their own. So,how do humans exist as a basic unit? Humans are a part of the structure that constitutes an arrangement as a unit of a community. If we understand and accept the concept of arrangement from this perspective, we can face the answers to the questions and deep meaning of human existence from the most primitive perspective. I am exploring answers to questions about human existence by focusing on the structural aspect of 'arrangement'. My works considers fundamental questions about existence inherent in humans, and expresses them visually through the medium of textiles.
