Jane Lee

An exhibition view held at her gallery in South Korea, Punto Blu Seoul

Through "constellation curating," Jane challenges the conventional 'artwork-first' model of curation, which often prioritises pre-selected pieces from the established art market. Instead, Jane advocates for a curatorial practice that liberates practitioners from legislative mandates, thereby enabling the genuine ethos of artists to permeate their creations and further, their lives.

This vision amplifies marginalised voices — mostly emerging artists that are not from the art capitals — and integrates creative discourse into everyday life, enriching cross-disciplinary collaborations and public engagement in cultural dialogue. As this ambition often confronts financial and hierarchical barriers that impose constraints on horizontal decision making process and accessibility, she creates or seeks for environments where artists and communities can thrive through sustainable and autonomous business models in the arts.

Ultimately, Lee's work envisions a future where curating transcends institutional limitations, embodying a collaborative spirit that redefines how people interact with the world through art.
