Hwajeong Yeo is a ceramic artist based in Seoul and London.
With a major in Ceramics and a solid background in ceramic engineering, her work focuses on material-oriented ceramics. Her academic and professional roots in ceramic engineering have led her to specialize in the innovative use of creative glazes as independent structures. This novel approach moves away from traditional ceramic-making methodologies, which primarily utilize clay as the medium, thereby revealing new possibilities within the field of ceramic arts.
Through her experiments on various glaze compositions, Hwajeong Yeo discovered a new technique that allows for sculpting with glaze alone, without the need for clay. Presently, she is dedicated to further developing this technique at the Royal College of Art (RCA), aiming to refine and expand its application within the broader context of contemporary ceramics.
