Cornelia Skrok (b. 2002, Lodz, Poland) is a London-based multi-disciplinary artist and designer. Their work takes various forms (from short films, 2D animations, to graphic posters, paintings and illustrated short books) with a focus on the hand made and DIY, grainy and raw aesthetics.
“Creating has been a key component of me as a person since I was a kid, and though my practices and motivations shift, they always root from means of self expression and and clearly stand from my position as a storyteller and a wanna-be problem solver. The common theme or my aim, nevertheless, is to make the world more artistic, visually pleasing, and meaningful. I aspire my work to bring some kind of change, even on a micro-scale, and contribute to the art culture, grow and support others. I am quite critical and draw inspiration from all around me. I am interested in anthropology, sociology, I am a big fan of Polish Soviet era art, all kinds of books and posters, but also the punk and rock culture, and y2k art from when I was growing up. I love to experiment with old mixed media and bring them to a more modern context, especially in ways or means they have not been used before or are not often seen.”
