Bethan Yates

Cast glass motifs influenced by the designs and repetitive patterns of traditional Welsh quilts.

Bethan is a Welsh contemporary glass artist. She began her career in stained glass, studying her undergraduate degree in Architectural glass at the Swansea College of Art. Currently exploring a range of contemporary glass techniques she aims to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary in her work.

Whilst at the RCA, Bethan's artistic endeavours delve into a poignant exploration of the historical narratives surrounding Welsh women's contributions within both domestic and professional spheres. Through her artistry, she endeavors to illuminate and celebrate the often overlooked craftsmanship and creativity of Welsh women, weaving their stories into the vibrant tapestry of her glass work.

Bethan's current artistic exploration involves the evolution of her stained glass from its two-dimensional origins into captivating, three-dimensional structural artworks. This innovative approach reflects her commitment to pushing the boundaries of her craft while preserving its rich heritage.
