Alessandra “Ali” Vargas is a multidisciplinary designer born and raised in Los Angeles, now based in London. She is passionate about exploring art and design as a confessional yet universal language, practicing creative problem solving, and seeing her favorite musicians live.
Vargas’s practice works through the juxtaposition of the public and private through a mixed media approach, extending across several mediums including print and publication, collage, gouache painting, and writing. She is interested in the exploration of communicative art formats, aiming to create deeply intimate work that resonates with the general public whilst garnering interactive responses.
Vargas graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design. She recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Art and Design (Communications specialism) at the Royal College of Art with a First Class Honors Distinction. Vargas has now returned to the RCA to complete her Master of Arts in Visual Communication.
