Utopia and Dystopia

How might one describe Utopia, or indeed Dystopia?
Being DigitalCommunicationFictionsTechnologies

Revolving around the fragility and unsustainability of utopias in the age of digitalisation, our project creates a music album called 'Utopia Variations', born out of the interplay between digital simulacrum and natural organism, containing seven tracks of carefully designed ambient music with highly charged visualisations, which, through the dual combination of sound and vision, attempts to search for the boundaries between the fragility and eternity of utopias in digital reality in the process of immersive experience. The project also emphasises the complex interplay between the realistic and digital realms while addressing the obstacles of establishing and sustaining idealistic settings within a constantly changing environment. As Haworth (2020) suggests, as a natural outgrowth of information technology itself, the challenges to the utopian qualities of decentralisation in a time of great technological and economic change are enormous.
