As a team, we have been focusing on solving the insomnia problem of college students. We face pressure from all aspects of society every day, especially study pressure, and sleep is an important way to restore physical strength and spirit. Not only can insomnia cause fatigue, lack of wakefulness, and lack of energy, it can also affect our mental health, causing us to experience symptoms of anxiety and depression. Sleep is often seen as a personal issue, but there are many social issues that can also lead to insomnia, and we enjoy modern Society's conveniences are also affected by its drawbacks, including a wide variety of caffeinated drinks, traffic noise and excessive use of social media, which can have a significant impact on sleep quality. Today, sleep problems are prevalent throughout the world. It is very common in society and is becoming increasingly younger. Sleep is not only a daily behavior, but also embodies a certain meaning, symbolizing the contradiction and balance between anxiety and rest. Most people are aware of the importance of sleep, but Due to the formation of habits in certain lifestyles, there is nothing we can do about how to solve sleep problems. No amount of scented candles, eye masks or ASMR sleep aid videos can fundamentally solve systemic problems. Therefore, we decided to start from our own perspective. Analyze the factors leading to insomnia and try to fundamentally solve the problem of insomnia.

In the initial stage of the project, we conducted a survey on the sleep status of college students. Members of our group recorded their sleep status for four consecutive days, including sleep duration, number of awakenings, and the day's diet and entertainment activities. From the conclusion, we found that the sleep duration Most of them are between 5-6 hours, and everyone has a certain amount of caffeine intake and long-term use of social media. In addition, the group members reported that the noise around the house often prevents them from entering deep sleep. These things we The accustomed living conditions have been affecting our sleep quality and eroding our health, so we decided to focus on these main factors and present them in the form of pillow installations, hoping to cause the audience to deeply reflect on sleep issues.

Our project "toss and turn" was originally intended to be made into three physical installations. However, due to the limited time of this unit, the focus of this project is the process rather than the product, and the digital products can be stored permanently. Considering environmental protection, we decided to use architectural As the final form, "toss and turn" vividly describes people tossing and turning in bed because they have difficulty falling asleep, and presents the state of people feeling anxious due to insomnia. It consists of: "Bottle", "Digital Entanglement", "Maze" "Composed of three pillow installations .The idea of "Bottle" comes from the refreshing drinks that are indispensable in college students' daily lives, such as coffee and tea. While these drinks help them cope with the intense study pace, they have also become a way to affect college students' sleep. an important factor in quality. This installation cleverly materializes the contradictory relationship between refreshing and insomnia by exploring the artistic expression of transforming daily beverage bottles into the shape of pillows. In addition, we conducted physical experiments on the first installation, adding pure water to a square water bottle. The needle drops the leftover coffee and wine into the water, and finally pours them all in until the various liquids in the water bottle are completely blended together. The audience can smell these exciting smells through the speaker diffusion system speakers above and on the side of the water bottle. , thereby providing a unique and profound sensory experience in sight and smell. Initially, we also thought that we could use solids such as coffee beans and tea bags or put different liquids such as coffee, tea, wine, etc. in plastic bags for display, but in the end We thought that the fusion of different liquids could more intuitively show the state of these refreshing drinks in the human body. "Bottle" is not only a reflection of the modern college student lifestyle, but also reminds us that although refreshing drinks may temporarily increase our alertness sex and work efficiency, but over-reliance on it will definitely affect our night's rest and long-term health, prompting college students to find a healthier balance between study and rest. "Digital Entanglement" vividly depicts how social media affects the sleep quality of college students through an installation full of symbolic meaning. At the center of the installation is a giant hand made of tentacles, tightly holding a mobile phone scrolling through TikTok and Instagram likes. This is not just a mobile phone, but an irresistible black hole. The content recommended by its algorithm makes people addicted, unable to extricate themselves, and forget the passage of time. These tentacles not only represent the appeal of social media, but also symbolize its manipulation and control over the daily lives of college students. They are like tentacles, wrapping and wrapping the user tightly, making it difficult for them to escape. The installation shows that college students' brains remain in an excited state driven by stimulating and attractive content, and this continued excitement directly affects the quality of sleep, leading to delays and reductions in sleep time. "Digital Entanglement" calls on everyone to reflect on and examine their relationship with social media, reminding us that we should find a balance between life and technology in the digital age, reasonably control the time we use social media, and avoid being addicted to the virtual world and ignoring reality. The beauty in life."Maze" uses a unique omnidirectional speaker shape designed to simulate the various noise environments that college students may encounter in campus life. From the rapid siren of the police car, the speeding ambulance, to the knocking on the walls of the dormitory, the music coming from the distance, the sound of the wind outside the window, and even the sound of the alarm clock in the early morning, these sounds form a story surrounding the daily life of college students. The sound maze of life. Long-term exposure to noise pollution will not only cause neurasthenia, but also form invisible anxiety and stress, making it difficult for people to fall asleep or enter deep sleep, disrupting people's sleep cycles, thereby reducing work and study efficiency. " Maze” reminds us that we should pay attention to the impact of noise on sleep, and then prompts college students to think about how to create a quieter environment for themselves, which is conducive to rest and study.
