As time goes by, the number of people across the world who suffer from mental illness has been rapidly increasing. Furthermore, since modern society makes people severely competitive, there are people who are consistently working to prove themselves leading them to be perfectionists. Perfectly Imperfect is a creative caring project supporting those perfectionists' mental well-being. We constructed a series of workshops to help them reflect on their tendency to be perfect and published a poster about their works from workshops and useful resources for further mental care.

Journaling Workshop

The journaling workshop was guided by team members with some questions to help perfectionists reflect themselves. Participants were asked to give a short self-introduction and shared their experiences and feeling about being a perfectionist.

We had questions such as:

  • What are some methods you tried, or how do yo cope with perfectionism?
  • What are the best 3 things you have achieved recently?
  • Are there any decisions you regret, and why?
  • Do you usually criticize/encourage yourself?

Art Craft Workshop

Inspired by Guatemalan traditional handmade worry dolls, which are believed to take away negative thoughts or nightmares when placed under a pillow while sleeping, we held an art craft workshop to make worry dolls which will help participants feel ease from their mental issues. The participants created worry dolls' characteristics together through ice breaking game and had time to make their own worry dolls.

Publication

After finishing two workshops, we printed a double-paged poster that includes worry dolls from the workshop and useful resources for further mental care.
