Kookie Mask is a plugin for a web browser that masks your cookie data and protects your information and movements while online. Kookie Mask uses an AI to analyse your social media profiles to generalise your overall online profiles and keep specific hobbies or interests from being connected to you as an individual. Kookie Mask also informs you through simplified and easy to understand metrics regarding what is masked and how websites are attempting to track and gain information on you.
Our team delves into the concern of data protection and the relationship with digital beings, addressing pressing concerns of online privacy, data mining and potential identity theft. The project utilises AI to safeguard user data, empowering individuals to have a sense of security and protecting personal information from tracking practices. Exploring AI’s role in shaping the online landscape offers valuable insights into the evolving dynamics between humans and technology. Through Kookie Mask, we also pave the way for more discussions and decisions regarding online data regulations and AI ethics. Our project also prompts reflection on the implications of technology on individual autonomy and social interaction by highlighting the risks and benefits of AI tools. By investigating the physical-digital relationship with a focus on cookie data masking, this project contributes to the potential of the future. A more informed, equitable and secure digital environment.
