To address the theme of ‘Justice, Inequality and Misinformation’ in this AcrossRCA unit, our team created a foldable zine — a tangible and impactful medium to address the loss of hope amongst people impacted by the housing crisis. Our project, supported by SPID Theatre, aims to leverage the power of art to amplify the voices of young people deeply affected by housing injustice. Our decision to create a foldable zine was driven by the desire for a durable, shareable, and physically engaging format that could be distributed by a running organisation after our project comes to an end. Our zine contains verbatim testimonies and scripted dialogue and aims to celebrate and honour the history, community, and spirit of these estates. We chose authentic poems that depict the current situation realistically: the bad and the good. By distributing this zine through SPID Theatre, we hope to reach individuals facing similar challenges, offering them a sense of solidarity and empowerment to combat their housing issues.
