Don't Say Palestine

An Introduction to Creative Dissent
Justice Equality and MisinformationNarrativesEducation

It has been made near-impossible to talk about Palestine without some form of repercussion. Between October 2023 and February 2024, more than 110 recorded instances of censorship occurred in European art spaces, creating an environment of fear and intimidation for those advocating for liberation in Palestine.

In this quick reader, we hope to introduce you to some of the revolutionary capabilities of art-making — especially as it stands in opposition to attempted censorship — drawing inspiration from the subversive tactics employed by Palestinian creatives.

Beyond white-cubed enclosures and capital-drenched grandeur, artistic practices have always been a critical component of the liberation toolkit. Palestine may remind us that art created in opposition to those who seek to suppress its exposure ends up being the most urgent form of art, and the one that most critically demands our attention.
