Across RCA Cafés

A reflection on our coffee consumption.
Climate CrisisAwarenessConsumptionFood

Around half a million tonnes of ground coffee waste goes to landfill each year in the UK. What are the potential opportunities for this waste?

This project focuses on the waste coffee grounds produced at RCA. Through bio-based material explorations, the project evolved into a leather bin formed from waste coffee grounds collected from cafes across the campus. The bin is a physical representation of the volume of waste produced in 15 minutes at RCA.

The project hopes to encourage reflection on our consumption habits and the potential opportunities for the waste that it creates.
